Concern Skin Laxity Firming face and body without surgery
What is skin sagging?
As we age, the skin thins, dries out, and loses elasticity, becoming soft, lacking firmness, and potentially showing a wrinkled or loose appearance. This phenomenon is called skin sagging.
What can cause skin sagging?
Skin laxity is caused by many factors, which we divide into internal factors, caused by our body, and external factors, which come from our lifestyle and environment.
As we age, our skin undergoes a reduction in collagen, elastic fibers, and hyaluronic acid, as well as a slowdown in blood circulation and hormonal changes. These are the internal factors of skin sagging.
External factors that we are exposed to throughout our lives include sun exposure, smoking, alcohol, poor diet, significant weight loss, and pregnancy.
How can skin sagging be prevented?
Generally, the areas most affected by skin sagging are the face, arms, lower abdomen, breasts, buttocks, and inner thighs. This phenomenon is often the cause of many insecurities in people. That's why there are skin tightening treatments. These procedures stimulate elastic fibers and collagen, which results in firmer, rejuvenated skin tissues.

Frequently asked questions about skin laxity
What exactly is skin laxity?
Skin laxity is the loss of firmness and elasticity, where skin stops returning to its original position when stretched. It results from the progressive decline of collagen, elastic fibres and hyaluronic acid in the dermis, combined with slower blood circulation. It affects the face (jawline, neck, eyelids) as much as the body (arms, abdomen, thighs).
What causes skin laxity?
The causes split into two groups. Internal factors come from within the body: declining collagen and elastic fibres with age, reduced hyaluronic acid, slower blood circulation and hormonal changes. External factors come from lifestyle and environment: sun exposure, smoking, alcohol, poor diet, significant weight loss and pregnancy. The external factors are the ones you can act on directly.
Can skin laxity be treated without surgery?
Yes, provided the laxity is mild to moderate. Non-surgical treatments work by stimulating collagen production: radiofrequency heats the dermis in a controlled way to trigger fibre contraction and new collagen formation, tensor threads mechanically reposition tissue while stimulating collagen around them, and mechanical massage improves firmness and circulation. Where there is a very large excess of skin, particularly after major weight loss, medical aesthetics reaches its limit and surgery remains the better option. Your physician will be straightforward about this during the consultation.
What is the difference between radiofrequency and tensor threads?
Radiofrequency is an external energy treatment with no needle: it heats the dermis to cause immediate contraction of collagen fibres and stimulate new collagen. Results are gradual and accumulate over several sessions. Tensor threads are a mechanical treatment: absorbable threads are inserted under the skin to reposition tissue, with a lifting effect visible immediately that then continues through collagen stimulation around each thread. Radiofrequency suits diffuse, early laxity better; threads suit more pronounced sagging in specific areas.
How long do results last?
It depends on the treatment and above all on natural ageing, which continues afterwards. Radiofrequency results establish themselves over several weeks as new collagen forms, and are maintained with periodic sessions. Tensor threads are absorbable and their effect fades gradually. In all cases, daily sun protection, stopping smoking and a balanced diet noticeably extend the results.
At what age does skin laxity begin?
Collagen production starts declining in your twenties, at roughly one per cent a year, but the first visible signs generally appear from your thirties or forties. Timing and speed vary considerably with genetics, cumulative sun exposure, smoking and weight fluctuations, which is why some people notice laxity much earlier or later than average.
Which treatment should I choose for the face rather than the body?
The areas do not respond to the same protocols. For the face, RF wrinkle reduction, mechanical facial firming massage, tensor threads and fillers restore volume and firmness. For the body (arms, abdomen, thighs), RF body skin tightening and mechanical body massage are better suited to larger surfaces. The consultation determines the right combination for your areas.
Is there downtime after a firming treatment?
Radiofrequency treatments and mechanical massage require no time off: mild redness may appear and fades within a few hours. After tensor threads are placed, tenderness, slight swelling or bruising can persist for a few days, and it is recommended to avoid extreme facial movements and massaging the area while it heals.
