What is a dermal filler and how does it rejuvenate the face?
A dermal filler is an injectable product, most often based on hyaluronic acid, that restores lost volume and smooths etched-in wrinkles. With age the face does not simply wrinkle: it deflates. The deep fat compartments shrink and descend, which hollows out the under-eyes, the nasolabial folds and the tear troughs, and causes the face to lose its structure. What is the difference between fillers and botulinum toxin?
The two are complementary but work in opposite ways. Botulinum toxin relaxes the muscle responsible for an expression line: it addresses movement.
