Microneedling
Collagen induction to refine skin texture and restore radiance
What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a skin treatment that uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-punctures on the surface of the skin. These micro-injuries, invisible to the naked eye, trigger the skin's natural repair process. In response, the skin produces new collagen and elastin, the two proteins that give it firmness and suppleness. The result: smoother, more even skin texture and a brighter complexion, achieved without surgery and with usually short downtime.
How does a session work?
Microneedling is performed by our estheticians certified in microneedling. The session begins with cleansing the skin, then numbing cream is generally applied for your comfort. The microneedling device is then passed over the areas to be treated. Needle depth is adjusted to the area and the concern. You will usually feel a prickling or light vibrating sensation. At the clinic, we offer a Microneedling Pro-Collagen protocol, designed to support the skin's collagen production over the course of the sessions.
What can microneedling treat?
Microneedling is a versatile treatment that improves overall skin quality. It is usually indicated for:
- Uneven texture and enlarged pores: skin looks smoother and more refined
- Fine lines: new collagen helps soften superficial wrinkles and fine lines
- Acne scars: mild to moderate atrophic (depressed) scars gradually fade
- Dull skin: a dull complexion regains radiance and evenness
- Stretch marks: the appearance of stretch marks can be improved, especially with a series of sessions
Each treatment plan is tailored to your skin and your goals, based on the assessment done during your consultation.
Results and number of sessions
A radiance boost is often visible in the days following the session. Results on texture, fine lines and scars develop more gradually, because new collagen takes several weeks to form. A series of several sessions about four weeks apart is usually recommended. Acne scars and stretch marks generally need more sessions than improving radiance or skin texture. The number of sessions is set based on the assessment of your skin. For current offers, including the Renaissance Visage promotion, which combines 6 pro-collagen microneedling sessions, 6 mechanical facial massage sessions and 1 professional product, see our promotions page.
Aftercare
After microneedling, the skin is usually red and sensitive, a bit like a mild sunburn, for 24 to 72 hours. Some mild dryness or flaking may follow for a few days.
- Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every day and avoid direct sun exposure
- Avoid makeup, swimming pools, saunas and intense exercise for the first few days
- Use gentle, hydrating skincare and temporarily pause irritating products (retinoids, exfoliating acids) as advised
Contraindications
Microneedling is generally a safe procedure when performed by a qualified professional. However, it is usually not recommended in the following situations:
- Active acne or skin infection in the area to be treated
- Cold sore flare-up
- Pregnancy
- Recent isotretinoin use
- Tendency to keloid scarring
- Certain medical conditions
These points are checked during the consultation, before any treatment.
Microneedling vs Mesotherapy
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture, while mesotherapy delivers a cocktail of nutrients directly into the skin to hydrate and revitalize it. The two approaches can be complementary; the consultation helps determine which one best suits your skin.

Frequently asked questions about microneedling
What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a skin treatment that uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-punctures in the skin. In response, the skin triggers its natural repair process and produces new collagen and elastin. Over time, texture becomes smoother, pores look less visible and the complexion gains radiance.
How many microneedling sessions do I need?
A series of several sessions about four weeks apart is usually recommended. The exact number depends on the concern being treated: radiance and texture generally respond faster than acne scars or stretch marks, which often need more sessions. Your plan is set based on the assessment of your skin.
Does microneedling hurt?
Numbing cream is generally applied before the session, which makes the treatment well tolerated by most people. You will usually feel a prickling or light vibrating sensation, slightly more noticeable over bony areas such as the forehead.
What is the downtime after microneedling?
The skin is usually red and sensitive, a bit like a mild sunburn, for 24 to 72 hours. Some mild dryness or flaking may follow for a few days. Most people return to their usual activities the next day, avoiding makeup, intense exercise and sun exposure for the first few days.
Does microneedling work for acne scars?
Yes, microneedling is a well-established option for mild to moderate atrophic (depressed) acne scars. By stimulating collagen production, it helps gradually lift and soften these scars. Very deep scars may call for a combined approach, which will be discussed during your consultation. Microneedling is not performed on active acne.
When will I see microneedling results?
A radiance boost is often visible within a week of the session. Results on texture, fine lines and scars appear more gradually, because new collagen takes several weeks to form. They usually keep improving over the course of the series and in the months after the last session.
