What is it?
The laser nail fungus protocol onychomycosis treatment is a revolutionary and patient-friendly method for treating onychomycosis (toenail fungus). It is a simple and effective procedure that uses the power of Nd:YAG laser light to evenly heat the entire depth of the nail and surrounding tissues, weakening and effectively killing the parasitic fungi that have infected the patient's nails.

Deep, pulsed heating of the nail bed stimulates the destruction of the parasitic fungi. The body’s natural growth and immune processes are then able to return the nail to its original state. Compared to traditional methods, the effects of laser light are spread evenly throughout the tissue and are not subject to the limitations of chemical diffusion (like topical treatments) or the induction of hepatotoxic side effects (as with oral medications).
Laser nail fungus protocol is done in three simple steps:
- Step 1: File the nail. During onychomycosis, the nail deforms and thickens. Filing the nail allows the laser light to penetrate the treatment area completely.
- Step 2: Administer Nd:YAG laser pulses in a circular pattern covering the entire nail. Slightly overlap the beam to ensure the nail is completely covered. The patient should feel a mild heat sensation throughout the nail.
- Step 3: Target laser pulses around the perimeter of the nail bed and surrounding finger or toe. Often, the parasitic fungi have spread beyond the nail bed and must be eliminated in all surrounding tissue to prevent recurrence.
The Laser nail fungus protocol treatment is generally performed four times, with a one-week interval between treatments. All nails should be treated during each session. The laser light can also effectively treat fungi that have infected surrounding skin tissues.
